Tuesday

yubba

We've got to be careful or this nickname might stick! But it's just so sweet to hear little brother try to say her name. And for some reason, "Yubba"just suits her at the moment.

sleepy sarah trying to wake up

She's a squeaker, just like Nathan was.

Friday

We're no longer calling her "Sleepy Sarah"

I'm getting skeert. Abby had this look. A lot. And she ended up being a child who would only fall asleep holding on to my face - sometimes with her fingers up my nose.

GO TO SLEEP SARAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thursday

At CPA

Today was the last day of MDO for Abby. She had a half day so instead of Daddy bringing her home as usual, Nathan, Sarah and I went to pick her up. Abby was so excited to show off her little sister! Sarah rode along in the sling (and helped me carry the camera) and we went and picked up big sister.

sleepy sarah snoring in the sling

can you hear her snoring???

Wednesday

7 minutes

We let little Sarah "cry it out" for the first time tonight. She was exhausted had nursed for what seemed like hours but still was not letting herself fall asleep. We tried taking a walk (inside and outside) but nothing seemed to be working. So I wrapped her in her little straight jacket, put her in the closet, turned out the lights and shut the door. (For those of you who don't know, her "bedroom" is our master bedroom walk-in closet - There's a swing in there - no need to call DCS.)

It took about 7 minutes but now she's asleep.

BACK TO ADD: OK, I was wrong. She faked me out. She was crying again within about 10 minutes of that post. It took her another hour of nursing off and on for her to fall asleep. But she was asleep by 11pm and slept till about 5am!

NATHAN

This is Nathan wrapped in the straight jacket miracle blanket at about 3 weeks old. I think it looks like the same child!!!

Friday

Celebrating 10 years!!!

Look what God has brought to us in the past 10 years of marriage!! We are so blessed!

2 week checkup

(with Dr. Neil)

Sarah has gained 3 more ounces just since Wednesday! Dr. Seethaler pronounced her "practically perfect in every way" (like we didn't already know THAT!)

We opted out of any vaccinations yet and we'll do a delayed vax schedule starting at her 2 month appt.

She was sleepy when we first got there but by the time we saw the doc, she was alert and awake during the appointment and all went well!

Tonight we'll go to Carrabbas with Abby, Nathan and Miss Sarah to celebrate 10 years of marriage!

Thursday

Announcement - Version #2

This one is "from" Abby & Nathan and features photos of them holding Sarah at the bottom of the announcement. (Click to enlarge!)

Wednesday

Version #1

I just started working on Sarah's announcements - Here's draft number one! (Click to enlarge!)

Our 3 babes

Wearing their matching "I'm the Big Sister, Big Brother, Little Sister" duds.

How is it possible that we happened to get all 3 of the cutest kids on the planet all in one family? I mean, what are the odds???

Sleepy Sarah

I wonder....

I don't think she's been awake for more than 2 or 3 hours all day long.

Guess that means we'll be up all night, huh? Last night she slept from midnite until 6:30 am!

And don't you love this photo? Sarah is deep in sleepy thought while Daddy is in the background wheeling and dealing his Packards on ebay.

lunch @ the farmer's market

8 pounds!

At 1 week and 4 days, she is not only back up to her birth weight, but she has exceeded it by 3 ounces!

We went over to the hospital to weigh Sarah and to take some handmade soaps to the nurses who took such good care of us!

Abby and Sleepy Sarah

Sarah! You just woke up! You need a nap already???

Tuesday

Yubba

Here's Nathan - giving Sarah her nickname:

I wonder what she was dreaming about?

brotherly love

A visit from the Stouffers

A big day for Yubba!

(We've all taken to calling Sarah "Yubba" - That's the way Nathan pronounces her name - so cute!)

Today we drove out to see "Granny" - Grandbud's mother - it was a lovely visit! I love this picture - 4 Generations on one couch:

Afterward, Nana and Grandbud accompanied us to the park and we fed the ducks, swang, chased a beaver around the park and had a picnic (Sarah laid on the picnic table and slept most of the time!) and then we took the long way home and all 3 of the kids fell asleep in the back seat.

And then, Sarah got a bath!

It was a big, busy day and she was just as content as could be.

With The Family

We had everyone over for Nathan's Birthday / Mother's Day. Sarah was held by everyone and slept practically the whole time.

Sunday

mama's in the shower!

Sarah slept on the vanity in the bathroom for about 3 hours today! I took a shower and so did Bruce. I bet it was nice and toasty in there!

this mama's heart is full.

For mother's day, Sarah slept from 11pm to 5am!

Abby drew me a picture with purple irises and said, "Mama, those are the Tennessee State Flower!"

Nathan turned two. He brought me an "oje" (orange) for breakfast and said "I lutch you, mama!" Oh I love that boy!

Daddy let me sleep in 'till 9 (even though Sarah had already let me sleep more than I had expected!) and presented me with an envelope of garden plans with a promise to rent a tiller and put out a spot in the back yard before returning to work on Friday (which happens to be our 10 year anniversary!)

Our kids sat on the bed and loved on each other while Bruce and I talked about the garden and the other lovely things growing under our care.

Sarah is now back asleep and Daddy is out with the 2 big 'uns at Toys R Us (Abby is buying a gift for her brother) and then they'll eat lunch out so they don't mess the house up! I'm here in my peaceful, quiet and relatively clean house (I'll be able to do some straightening up without the kids running behind me to undo it all!) with the windows open and the breeze blowing through. We'll have a house full of family this afternoon to celebrate Nathan's 2nd Birthday and Mother's Day.

God is so Good.

Saturday

10:41 happy 1 week birthday!

diaper change

good morning!

Abby and Nathan both run to our room in the mornings asking to hold the baby. So sweet.

She's asleep again!

Nursed some more...Back to sleep in the snugglenest here by mama. Now, if only *I* could fall asleep!

back to sleep

She woke around 11 and ate, then again at around 1:15 and is now snoozing again. I have her here in the bed with me. And for some reason, I am wide awake and can not make myself lay down! I think it's the fact that I know she'll probably be awake again in a few hours that's making me resist sleep. Either that or the fact that I just can not stop staring at her, stroking her little face and kissing her. She's so precious!

Friday

happy mama, happy baby.

I don't think I posted this one from the hospital but I love it. We both look so chilled out and content.

She loves loves loves her

All day long from Abby: "Mama, can I hold Sarah? Is Sarah Awake? Can I read a book to Sarah? Is Sarah hungry? Can I take Sarah outside?" (Repeat a million bazillion times.) It's beautiful and precious and delightful and wonderful and more than this heart can hold sometimes.

She's been asleep ALL DAY LONG!

(Which I guess means we'll be up all night!)

Well... we did have a few periods of alertness and activity. One this morning, one long one this afternoon when Cindi and Allen came to meet her, and another one this evening. But for the most part - She's pretty much been out all day! Wonder what that means for tonight.

getting some fresh air

It was SO beautiful outside today! We had all the windows open all day long and I put Sarah by the window to nap in the fresh air.

snoozin'

let's try this again

a clean diaper, a little more milk, re-swaddled... let's hope this takes. i'm tired!

full?

Don't you just want to squish her?

Why am I awake? I can not stop playing with these pictures! Ack! OK, I'm going to bed now... Hopefully Sarah will cooperate!!!

Thursday

midnite diaper change!

swinging... in the closet.

Have I mentioned? She has no bed of her own and no room either? We have a swing in the closet in our bedroom and soon we'll put a changing table in there. It's the perfect setup, really!

the miracle blanket

We'll see if it works. She's nursed, been changed and swaddled. Now, off to the closet!

And I'll have to go and look for it but I have a picture of Nathan that looks EXACTLY like this down to the blanket and pillow but the face and pink eyelids even! How is it that we have all three of the world's most beautiful kids under our very own roof?
